Elim Church

What does it look like to wait on the Lord—to keep persevering in a season of waiting? If we believe in a God who can do miracles, then we must learn to wait in a way that honours Him, staying steadfast in prayer and patience. The goal is to look more like Jesus, to grow in our faith and not lose sight of how God is working in the waiting—because prayer without patience is anxious, and patience without prayer is aimless.

As Ps. Lukas finished up our four E’s in what makes us Elim we now shift gears in our homecoming series to talk about values we carry as the local church. One of the most important values a church can hold, one of the most valued pieces of the church family, is being a house that honours well. Honour is the heartbeat of a Christ-centered community—it calls us to see the image of God in every person and helps us to fight gossip which can cause division and bitterness. As we choose to honour God, our leaders, and each other, we become a church family that reflects Jesus’ love to our city.

Everyone wants a miracle, but no one wants to wait for one. The waiting is the hardest part and yet it’s where God does His best work. Ps. Lukas kicks off our new series talking about the space between promise and fulfillment — the waiting room of faith — and how God uses it to stretch, shape, and strengthen us. 

Its Baptism Sunday...It’s thanksgiving Sunday… and we can’t contain our joy and excitement. Ps. Lukas preaches a brief sermon on the how our thankfulness towards Jesus and the cross leads to action and celebration and there is no greater way to show your gratitude then by getting baptized. 

As we begin to wrap up our homecoming series, Ps. Lukas helps us see the importance of our final E: Engage our world. This is more than just a value of Elim church this is the mission of everyone you follows Jesus. Now more than ever, we are called to be Salt and Light to our world, and the call to step in, not step away from darkness and heaviness is so present in our lives. The time is now!
